"It has always been my dream to open a candle shop near the ocean when I retire—one that serves very good coffee in the mornings and delicious wines at night. In 2020, I brought the candle part of this dream to life, 35 years earlier than I imagined, all from my NYC apartment."

In April 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York City, I found myself longing for the smell of fresh garden produce and crisp outdoor air—a much-needed reprieve from being indoors for nearly a month.

As a child, one of my earliest memories was of a candle burning in our family living room. I remember being mesmerized by the flickering flame and the honeysuckle fragrance that filled the air. From that moment, I was in love with candles and as I moved cities and countries, meeting new smells, my candle collection and scent memories grew.

In 2020, like millions around the world, I was reminded how short life can be. I realized I shouldn't wait another 30 years to pursue my dream. So, I took the leap. After months of extensive research, sourcing, and testing, I launched ODMÉ Candle Co. in October 2020.

The name "ODMÉ" (pronounced ODE-may) is inspired by an ancient Greek word meaning "of or relating to the sense of smell." It’s the perfect reflection of everything I want ODMÉ to be: a celebration of smell and a source of joy, inspiration, and curiosity.

At ODMÉ, every candle is thoughtfully crafted to balance complexity with comfort—offering scents that are never too sweet, uncommon and yet familiar. The scents are inspired by my personal travels to more than 35 countries and the many cultures, foods, smells, and moments that I've had the privilege of experiencing.
